Mobile VoIP is here to stay

without comments

I am not that big fan of VoIP so to say due to some obvious reasons, primarily mobility. Moreover the quality of servcie (read voice) is one of the major letdowns, however I must admit things have changed.

In recent years i have been travelling often and changing sim cards (i have collected quite a few) in hope of saving some bucks as roaming cost at times weigh in heavier. So I did try out a few options i.e. first Fring using my Skype account then Truphone and lately skype again. Mobile VoIP has not only provided a low cost alternative; it is now emerging as a total communication offer, from text to IM to social media – all incl.

Recently Vopium is another company which is vying for its share from a huge international call market (approx 417 billion min as of 2008). What sets Vopium apart from other existing players is its elaborate range of supported phones. I have tried it on a symbian, BB and iPhone as well. For now i am going to stick to Vopium, though others are also installe for just in case :)

You can download the app from iTunes.

So Mobile VoIP is doing good and I would really like to see it rolling out for SMBs as on average the call bill scan easily be cut by half and we have seen that with VoIP already.
